Meeting with Vietnam Cashew Association
On September 17, 2020, the project ” Promotion of supply and demand of Eco-fair agri-food processing products in Vietnam ” (Eco Fair Project) visited and worked with the Vietnam Cashew Association at the headquarters at 135 Pasteur, Ward 6, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City. Attending the meeting on the Eco Fair project side were Dr. Nguyen Bao Thoa – Director of Vietnam Rural Industry Research and Development Institute / Project Director and Eco Fair project staff; on the Vietnam Cashew Association side were Mr. Dang Hoang Giang – Vice Chairman cum Secretary General and officials of the Vietnam Cashew Association.
At the meeting, Dr. Nguyen Bao Thoa introduced the project activities and Mr. Dang Hoang Giang exchanged more information on the situation of cashew production and export in Vietnam; The project and the association discussed and exchanged the coordination work between the two parties, proposing:
– Collaborate in capacity building for businesses, support voluntary sustainability certification, connect green finance and market promotion.
– Supporting businesses to promote products and connect markets
– Build a number of successful business models with eco-fair labels (such as organic, Global Gap, Fair trade, etc.) and share and introduce some successful business models in outreach. market,
– Coordinate with the Association to discuss and sign the Memorandum of Agreement and develop a Code of Conduct / MOU on domestic and international promotion of eco-fair cashew products.
– Participate in project’s seminars, conferences to share, and strengthen cooperation
It is expected that this coordinated activity will help Vietnamese cashew businesses improve their capacity, innovate products, better respond to the requirements of the European market, and increase their competitiveness in the context of the world economy today.
